Republic of Korea Marine Corps and Indonesian Navy Hold Joint 'ROK-INDO MARINEX 2026' Exercise in Indonesia

【Jakarta, Indonesia = Reporter Aulia Maulida Hamdani】The Indonesian Navy's Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion and the Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROKMC) carried out close-quarters battle training on the 22nd at the Indonesian National Armed Forces' Armed Forces Peacekeeping Missions Center in Sentul, Bogor, Indonesia, as part of the 'ROK-INDO MARINEX 2026' joint exercise.
According to local media reports on the 25th, the training focused on improving tactical skills for moving quickly and accurately as a team in confined spaces. Troops from both countries concentrated on team movement in restricted areas, tactical communication, rapid decision-making, and combat discipline, strengthening interoperability for real-world operations.
The joint exercise is seen not only as a way to strengthen tactical capabilities, but also as an opportunity to expand defense cooperation between South Korea and Indonesia and to share military experience between the two countries' marine forces. In particular, by sharing tactical procedures and operational experience, special forces from the two nations laid the groundwork for improving future joint operational capabilities.
The Indonesian Navy said the exercise is part of defense diplomacy under President Prabowo Subianto's policy of 'free and active diplomacy' and is expected to contribute to strengthening regional security and maritime cooperation.
