Oh Se-hoon and Kim Yun-duk to Meet Again Tomorrow for Third Round of Talks Over Yongsan Park

[Financial News] Oh Se-hoon, Seoul Metropolitan City Mayor, and Kim Yun-duk, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, will hold a second meeting on housing supply on the 26th. As Oh raised the possibility of using an alternative site to Yongsan Park for housing supply at their previous meeting, attention is focused on whether the gap between their positions can be narrowed.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 25th, Oh and Kim will meet at a location in Seoul on the 26th. It will be six days after their first meeting on the 20th.
At their first meeting, the two sides confirmed a clear difference in views over housing supply at Yongsan Park. The government proposed using damaged areas within the park for housing, but the Seoul Metropolitan Government drew a line, saying no homes could be built even on part of the park.
After the meeting on the 20th, Oh held a briefing at Seoul Metropolitan Government and said, "As the mayor of Seoul, agreeing to convert even part of the main site of Yongsan Park for residential use would make me a sinner in history." He also released a video with similar remarks on the 25th. However, he suggested nearby sites such as Camp Kim, the Armed Forces Financial Management Corps site on Gyeongnidan-gil, the Bank of Korea dormitory in Huam-dong, and a parking lot of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as alternatives. He said Seoul Metropolitan Government would actively support the installation of infrastructure such as transportation, water supply, and sewage systems if housing is built on those sites.
Kim also said at the time that they had "confirmed each other's differences in position."
The two are expected to discuss a range of issues at their second meeting on the 26th, including housing supply in Yongsan. At the meeting on the 20th, they also discussed various topics, including housing supply in the Yongsan International Business District and easing loan regulations.
