[Financial News] The Korean-style container freight index KCCI is expected to enter the financial sector and be used for investment analysis of the shipping market.
KOBC and LS Securities said on the 25th that they signed a business agreement on the 24th at LS Securities' headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, to cooperate in linking and using shipping indices, including KCCI, and in exchanging information.
The agreement was designed to introduce KCCI, which KOBC publishes, to the financial sector and private investors, and to facilitate information sharing on maritime supply chains based on the two organizations' expertise in shipping, finance and logistics.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will exchange information and analytical materials related to maritime freight rates, including KCCI. They will also cooperate on monitoring risks in maritime supply chains, as well as on joint research, seminars, and the linking of systems and channels.
LS Securities will continue to cite and use KCCI in its corporate and industry analysis reports, helping spread shipping market information through financial-sector research channels. Through this, KCCI is expected to serve as a key reference for market participants when analyzing the shipping market and making investment decisions.
Kim Jong-woo, head of KOBC's Maritime Industry Information Center, said, "This agreement will serve as an opportunity for KCCI, a public shipping information index, to expand into the financial market and private investment sector." He added, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with securities firms' research departments and with the shipping and shipbuilding sectors to further increase KCCI's usefulness."
