[Breaking] President Lee: "Protecting core technologies is national security; response systems must be thorough"

[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung said at a State Council of South Korea meeting he chaired at Cheong Wa Dae on the 25th, "Technology security is the foundation that supports a nation's industrial economy, so we must prepare more thoroughly." He added, "Starting next month, penalties for overseas technology leaks will be significantly strengthened. That is necessary, but what matters more is not catching the thief after losing the cow, but managing foreign exchange and external risks well from the start so we do not lose the cow in the first place."
He also stressed, "I hope relevant agencies, including the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the National Police Agency, will firmly establish a response system with the mindset that protecting core industrial technologies is the same as protecting national security."
