[Financial News] Lotte Department Store will host its largest exhibition event of the year at its main branch, Jamsil branch and Incheon branch to mark the peak season for art in September.
According to Lotte Department Store on the 25th, it will hold 'Lotte Art Week' through Oct. 23 and present a total of six exhibitions. The event is designed so visitors can view paintings, sculptures, photographs and design works by leading artists from Korea and abroad throughout the department store.
Solo exhibitions by Korean contemporary artists will also open one after another. Shim Moon-seup and Gwon Osang will be featured at the Jamsil branch, SangYeoul Kim at the main branch and Woojin Kim at the Incheon branch. A large-scale sculpture exhibition will also be shown at Avenuel Jamsil through Gwon Osang's 'Fragments of Existence' and at the Incheon branch through Woojin Kim's 'For Anyone, Utopia.'
On the ninth floor of the main branch, the exhibition 'Face to Face' will run from Oct. 1 to 20. It was created in collaboration by Japanese art director Yuni Yoshida and photographer Kim Young-joon to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and Japan. A special exhibition featuring six art influencers, including contemporary artist LEE.K, will also be presented.
On the second through sixth floors of the main branch, works by 13 Korean artists, including Kim Whanki and Park Seo-bo, will be displayed under the theme 'Collecting Tastes,' along with sculptures by Kim Ok and Jeon Hyeong-ho. Lotte Department Store Mall will also sell art posters and goods made from exhibition works in collaboration with the art brand Print Bakery.
Visitors to the exhibitions will receive a 'Lotte Art Week Gift Pack' on a first-come, first-served basis. The pack includes postcards and stickers featuring representative works by Shim Moon-seup, SangYeoul Kim, Gwon Osang and Woojin Kim.
Kim Jun-se, head of the branding division at Lotte Department Store, said, "Lotte Department Store is presenting a wide range of art content with the goal of becoming a 'retail art platform' that goes beyond shopping and offers cultural enjoyment." He added, "As September, the month eagerly awaited by art lovers, arrives, we expect strong interest from customers, given that we have prepared major works by leading masters from Korea and abroad on the largest scale of the year."
