Hyosung Heavy Industries to Showcase Future Power Grid Technologies in Paris, Accelerating Its Push into Europe

[Financial News] Hyosung Heavy Industries is accelerating its global expansion by highlighting eco-friendly extra-high-voltage power equipment and next-generation grid technologies, including High-voltage direct current (HVDC) and solid-state transformer (SST). In particular, it will unveil its self-developed Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) for the first time, underscoring its technological competitiveness in Europe, where demand for carbon reduction is especially strong.
Hyosung Heavy Industries said on the 25th that it will participate in the CIGRE Paris Session 2026, which is being held in Paris, France, until the 28th local time.
The CIGRE Paris Session is the world's largest power industry academic conference and exhibition, bringing together more than 10,000 power industry experts and global companies from over 100 countries. It serves as a venue to discuss technical standards for the global power industry and the future direction of grid development.
At the event, Hyosung Heavy Industries will present a total solution for future power grids, from HVDC for long-distance, large-capacity transmission to SST, a direct-current distribution technology for data centers.
In particular, it will unveil for the first time its 420-kilovolt (kV) SF6-free GIS, developed with proprietary technology. GIS is a core power device that rapidly cuts off excessive current at power plants and substations to protect electrical equipment. With this product, the company plans to target the European market, where demand for carbon neutrality and eco-friendly power infrastructure is high.
It will also showcase a wide range of next-generation transmission and distribution technologies. Hyosung Heavy Industries will present its self-developed voltage-source HVDC system and SST for data centers, which it developed for the first time in the world in 2022. It will also display an eco-friendly transformer using biodegradable insulating oil and its AI-based power facility asset management platform, ARMOUR+ Power Facility Asset Management Platform.
The company is also expanding technological and business cooperation with global power companies. On the 26th, Hyosung Heavy Industries will host the Future Grid Insight Forum for major global customers. Launched in 2022, the event is being held for the third time this year, with power industry experts from the United States, Europe, and Australia taking part.
This year's forum will discuss responses to surging power demand and ways to operate future power grids under the theme, "Changes and Challenges in the Power Grid: Expansion, Sustainability, and Resilience."
Meanwhile, buoyed by the strong global market for power equipment, Hyosung Heavy Industries has seen growth in both earnings and orders. In the second quarter of this year, sales rose 10.6 percent year on year to 1.687 trillion won, while operating profit jumped 60.9 percent to 264.3 billion won. New orders in the first half reached 7.4987 trillion won, nearly matching last year's full-year order total. As a result, the company raised its annual order target from 8.4 trillion won to 12 trillion won.
