Lotte Biologics Wins Excellent Grade in Green Building Certification for Songdo Plant 1

[Financial News] Lotte Biologics has been recognized for its eco-friendly construction achievements at Songdo Bio Campus Plant 1 and is stepping up efforts to strengthen its ESG competitiveness in the global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) market.
Lotte Biologics said on the 25th that it had received an excellent grade in the nationally recognized Green Building Certification (G-SEED) for Songdo Bio Campus Plant 1 from the Korea Institute of Environmental Building.
The Green Building Certification is a nationally recognized system jointly operated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment. It comprehensively evaluates energy and resource savings, reduced pollutant emissions, and indoor environmental quality across the entire lifecycle of a building, from material production to design, construction, and maintenance.
Lotte Biologics earned the excellent grade after evaluations in seven areas: land use and transportation, energy and environmental pollution, materials and resources, water circulation management, maintenance, and ecological environment. The company said it applied design and management systems that took environmental factors into account during the construction of the production facility, and that these efforts were objectively recognized through an external certification.
From the design stage, Songdo Bio Campus Plant 1 incorporated eco-friendly building elements and established a management system aimed at securing an excellent grade during the preliminary certification process. During construction, the company also used environmentally friendly materials and introduced energy-efficient facilities, while continuously reviewing and improving key evaluation items.
With this certification, Lotte Biologics plans to further strengthen its production infrastructure so it can meet global clients' sustainability requirements. Starting with Songdo Bio Campus Plant 1, the company intends to expand the application of eco-friendly building principles to future production facilities and continue its ESG management efforts.
