[Financial News] Analysts are advising investors to take another look at nuclear stocks in the second half of the year. In particular, Hyundai Engineering and Construction's nuclear plant construction capabilities are expected to draw renewed attention. On the 25th, Kang Moon-joon, an analyst at KB Securities, said in a report that although share prices have been weak in the second half, the period from the second half of 2026 to 2027 will be the most important phase for nuclear investment.
Kang said, "Following the United States Department of Energy (DOE) decision to provide $17.5 billion in Supply Chain Loan support, U.S. power utilities are expected to announce new nuclear plant projects starting in the second half of the year." He added, "Holtec International, a key partner of Hyundai Engineering and Construction, is expected to move toward an IPO, while the restart of the Palisades Nuclear Plant and the groundbreaking for a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) are also likely to align."
He also said, "The outline of Korea's investment in the U.S. nuclear industry will become clearer in the second half of the year." He added, "We continue to recommend Hyundai Engineering and Construction as our top pick, as it is set to become Korea's leading nuclear company and a global nuclear player." The analyst maintained a Buy rating and a target price of 170,000 won.
