[Financial News] Taihan Cable & Solution has launched a push into the European market by showcasing its high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and submarine cable technologies at CIGRE 2026, one of the world’s largest power industry events.
Taihan Cable & Solution said on the 25th that it is participating in CIGRE 2026, which runs through the 28th in Paris, France. CIGRE is an international organization founded in 1921 to share the latest technologies and research achievements in power transmission and distribution. It holds academic conferences and exhibitions every two years, and more than 100 member countries, 1,200 institutions, and over 15,000 experts are active in the group. It is regarded as a leading event for tracking the technology direction and market trends of the global power industry.
Under the theme "Connecting the Future of Power Through Technology," Taihan Cable & Solution presented its submarine cable turnkey solutions, HVDC and extra-high-voltage cable systems, and global network. The company focused on highlighting its capabilities across the broader power infrastructure business, from underground to subsea. In particular, it placed its submarine cable turnkey solution at the front of the booth to emphasize that it can handle the entire value chain, from design and production to transportation, construction, and maintenance.
In the HVDC segment, the company displayed its 500-kilovolt (kV) current-source HVDC cable system, developed for the first time in Korea, as well as its 525 kV voltage-source HVDC land cable system. The strategy is to demonstrate its technological competitiveness in long-distance, large-capacity transmission to major European customers. It also introduced its HVDC Test Center, which can simultaneously test two 640 kV-class onshore and submarine HVDC cable circuits. The company highlighted its R&D and testing infrastructure, which allows it to carry out everything in-house, from product development to performance verification.
The exhibition was attended by Vice Chairman and CEO Song Jong-min of Taihan Cable & Solution, Executive Vice President Lee Choon-Won, head of the submarine business division, Managing Director Nam Jeong-se, head of the energy overseas business division, and the heads of its European and U.S. subsidiaries. They met with officials from major European power utilities and business partners to discuss ongoing projects and future cooperation plans.
A Taihan Cable & Solution official said, "As AI data centers spread and renewable energy expands, demand for power grid investment is rising rapidly around the world," adding, "Based on our technological competitiveness in submarine cables, HVDC, and extra-high-voltage cable systems, we will expand cooperation with global customers and actively secure new order opportunities."
