Jeju to See Scorching 34 C Heat Today; Rain Starts on the 27th, with Waves Up to 5 Meters at Sea

[Financial News, Jeju = Reporter Jong Yong-bok] Jeju will continue to experience sweltering heat on the 25th, with daytime highs reaching 34 C. The weather will remain mostly clear through the 26th, before turning cloudy on the 27th and bringing rain to some areas.
According to the Jeju Provincial Meteorological Administration on the 25th, the island will be mostly clear today. Daytime highs are expected to range from 31 to 34 C, above the seasonal average of 28.7 to 29.6 C. On the previous day, Jeju's daytime highs also ranged from 31.8 to 34.4 C.
By area, the daytime high is forecast at 34 C in Jeju City, 32 C in Seogwipo and Seongsan, and 31 C in Gosan. In the mid-mountain areas, Sancheondan is expected to reach 30 C, while Seongpanak could rise to 28 C.
Nighttime temperatures are also unlikely to fall enough, making tropical nights likely to continue. The meteorological agency said the heat and tropical nights will persist in Jeju for the time being and urged residents to take care of their health.
The 26th will also be mostly clear, before clouds gradually increase from the night. Morning lows are forecast at 26 to 27 C, and daytime highs at 32 to 34 C.
The weather will change from the 27th. Jeju Province will be mostly cloudy, with rain expected in some areas from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. through late at night. Expected rainfall is 5 to 30 mm. On the 28th, it is also expected to remain mostly cloudy with rain in some areas.
Caution is needed at sea because of rough waves. On the 25th, waves off Jeju are expected to range from 0.5 to 2.5 meters, but from the 26th they will rise to as high as 3.5 meters, mainly in the southern, eastern and western coastal waters.
In particular, the outer southern waters off Jeju Province are expected to see very high waves of 2 to 5 meters on the 26th and 27th. Winds are also forecast to blow strongly at 10 to 20 meters per second. Along the coast, swells may send high waves ashore, so caution is needed near rocky shores and breakwaters.
The meteorological agency said daytime highs will likely remain at 31 to 33 C even after rain begins on the 27th. Even with rainfall, Jeju's late-summer heat is expected to continue for the time being.
