[Financial News] Suhyup Bank is identifying new business opportunities in future technologies such as quantum computing. Beyond digital finance, the bank plans to examine how emerging technologies will affect the financial industry and reflect those findings in its mid- to long-term strategy.
According to the financial sector on the 24th, Suhyup Bank held a meeting of its Digital Transformation (DT) Committee on the 20th under the theme, "Understanding Quantum Computing and Industry Outlook."
At the meeting, Shin Hak-gi, president of Suhyup Bank, chaired discussions on changes and trends surrounding digital transformation and future new businesses. The participants reviewed key agenda items for applying those insights to the bank's actual operations and future strategy. June-Koo Kevin Rhee, a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and CEO of quantum computing company Qunova Computing, also attended and shared the basic concepts of quantum computing, global technology development trends, industry prospects, and its potential impact on the financial sector.
Last year, Suhyup Bank invited outside experts in stablecoins and digital asset custody to its DT Committee. The bank has continued to deepen management's understanding of the market and technology while reviewing the potential of related businesses.
This year, it is moving those discussions into the implementation stage. The bank is gradually expanding its business foundation in digital finance by pushing ahead with an in-house proof of concept for stablecoins and completing an equity investment in a specialized digital asset custody company.
Through this committee, Suhyup Bank focused on improving management's understanding of the changes that quantum computing technology may bring to the financial industry and corporate business environments. It also aimed to secure insights needed to establish mid- to long-term future strategies and identify new business opportunities.
Shin Hak-gi, president of Suhyup Bank, said, "As the pace of change in digital technology accelerates, it is becoming increasingly important to understand new technologies and industrial shifts in advance and prepare for future businesses." He added, "Centered on the DT Committee, Suhyup Bank is seeking answers for the future through learning and reviewing digital finance and new technologies, and we will continue to discover new growth engines."
