Threatened Victim After Parole, Saying, "Watch Your Neck"

[Financial News, Jeonju = Reporter Kang In] A man in his 50s who went to threaten a victim he had assaulted after being paroled was sent back behind bars.
The Jeonju panel of the Gwangju High Court said on the 24th that it upheld the lower court's one-year prison sentence in the appeal trial of A, 55, who had been indicted on charges including retaliatory threats.
A was indicted for threatening B, a woman in her 50s who runs a bar, after visiting a drinking establishment in Deokjin District, Jeonju, on the evening of November 16 last year.
He had previously been sentenced to one year and eight months in prison in 2024 for assaulting B, and was released on parole the following year.
He denied the charges, saying, "I went to the shop to apologize to the victim," and "I only told her to take care of herself because she had gained weight. I did not threaten her."
But the court did not accept his argument.
The panel said, "What the victim said she heard from the defendant was not 'Take care of yourself from now on,' but 'Watch your neck from now on.'" It added, "The defendant went to the victim again during his repeat-offender period and threatened her in retaliation, so his culpability is serious."
