Dongguk University’s Division of Korean Language & Literature and Literature & Creative Writing marks 80th anniversary... professors and alumni donate 40 million won

[Financial News]  To mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of Dongguk University’s Division of Korean Language & Literature and Literature & Creative Writing, current professors and alumni donated 40 million won in development funds for younger students.
Dongguk University said on the 24th that it held the 'Development Fund Presentation Ceremony for the Division of Korean Language & Literature and Literature & Creative Writing' on the 20th at the main building of its Seoul Campus.
Current faculty members of the division, the Class of 1996 reunion, and alumnus Kim Jong-gil took part in the donation. The faculty contributed 20 million won, while the Class of 1996 reunion and Kim each donated 10 million won. Kim, a 1998 graduate of the Department of Korean Language and Literature, currently heads Kim Jong-gil Korean Language and Essay Institute.
The donations will be used to support the growth of younger students and improve the educational environment.
Il-Hwan Kim, head of the Division of Korean Language & Literature and Literature & Creative Writing at Dongguk University, said, "It is an even more meaningful donation because the faculty and alumni took part together." He added, "We will carefully use your generosity to help younger students grow and to create a better educational environment."
Yoon Jae-woong, president of Dongguk University, said, "The Division of Korean Language & Literature and Literature & Creative Writing is an academic community that has preserved the long tradition of the humanities at our university." He added, "I thank everyone who came together for the division and for our younger students."
