"Eat breakfast before going to school"... Woori Financial Group expands breakfast support for elementary school students in Gangwon

[Financial News] The Woori Financial Future Foundation will launch "Our Child’s Hearty Breakfast," a breakfast support program for 175 elementary school students in Gangwon, together with the Gangwon State Office of Education and World Vision. The program will involve 11 elementary schools in eight areas of Gangwon, including Jeongseon County, Cheorwon County and Pyeongchang County. Meals prepared by local small business owners near the schools will be delivered to the schools and provided to students.
The Woori Financial Future Foundation of Woori Financial Group said on the 21st that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gangwon State Office of Education and World Vision to support elementary school students at risk of skipping breakfast through the "Our Child’s Hearty Breakfast" project.
"Our Child’s Hearty Breakfast" is a social contribution project that provides balanced meals to elementary school students who go to school without eating breakfast. In July, the foundation launched the program after signing an agreement with the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education. With this latest agreement, the support area has expanded to Gangwon. In Gangwon, the program will be operated with regional characteristics in mind, including former coal-mining areas. At Jeungsan Elementary School in Jeongseon, all 19 students were included as beneficiaries because many students are unable to eat breakfast due to local conditions such as commuting by school bus.
Starting in the second semester, students will eat breakfast with their friends in a space set up at school after arriving on campus, then attend classes. The Woori Financial Future Foundation plans to continue stable breakfast support by working with the Gangwon State Office of Education and World Vision to monitor operations at each school. The project is designed to support healthy eating habits for children in their growth years while also promoting coexistence with local small business owners.
