Mirae IFC Medical Center recruits breast cancer expert Professor Kim Seung-il

[Financial News] The premium health screening institution Mirae IFC Medical Center, located in the Busan International Finance Center in Munhyeon-dong, Busan, said on the 25th that it has appointed Professor Kim Seung-il of the Breast Cancer Center at Severance Hospital, Yonsei University College of Medicine, a leading authority in breast cancer treatment and research in South Korea, as its honorary director.
The newly appointed honorary director, Kim Seung-il, will officially begin operating the center’s Breast and Thyroid Center on Sept. 1.
The Mirae IFC Breast and Thyroid Center will be led directly by a physician with 30 years of experience in breast surgery at Severance Hospital. It will provide integrated medical services, from precise diagnosis of breast diseases to post-surgery care.
It will conduct detailed examinations for symptoms of women’s diseases such as breast pain, lumps and nipple discharge, and provide personalized treatment through non-surgical drug therapy and close follow-up.
By combining basic tests, high-resolution breast ultrasound and mammography findings, the center will carry out early breast cancer detection and detailed interpretation. Based on the screening results, it will establish one-on-one customized prescriptions and care plans when needed.
It will also build a referral system with top university hospitals so that patients who need surgery or additional treatment can continue care quickly and safely.
Kim’s appointment is expected to serve as a turning point in upgrading women’s healthcare infrastructure in Busan, Ulsan Metropolitan City and South Gyeongsang Province.
Until now, many patients in the Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang region who were suspected of having breast cancer or needed follow-up care have had to travel to large hospitals in Seoul to meet renowned specialists, a practice that has caused inconvenience.
Mirae IFC Medical Center said the appointment will eliminate the time, financial and physical burden of traveling to Seoul for local women, while creating an environment where they can receive top-level early breast cancer screening and specialized care at a university-hospital standard in Busan’s financial hub.
Professor Kim is regarded as one of the country’s top authorities in breast surgery, having accumulated extensive clinical experience and research achievements over many years at the Breast Cancer Center of Severance Hospital.
In keeping with the reputation of Severance Hospital, he is expected to provide patient-tailored high-end care in Busan, from early breast cancer detection and difficult microcalcification interpretation to detailed post-surgery follow-up.
