Ruling Party and Government to Outline 800 Trillion Won Super Budget Tomorrow

They are expected to unveil the main projects in the super budget and the controversial 100 trillion won future response fund.
The Democratic Party said on the 24th that the ruling party-government consultation on next year's budget bill is scheduled for the 25th. Because the meeting is being held earlier than usual and the budget has been forecast to exceed 800 trillion won, attention is focused on the final size of the super budget and the main projects it will fund.
The consultation will be attended by floor leader Han Byung-do, policy committee chair Kwon Chil-seung, and Lee Kwang-jae, the chair of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts of the National Assembly. On the government side, Minister of Planning and Budget Park Hong-keun will be present.
In addition to the super budget, discussions on the creation of a future response fund, which the government says will exceed 100 trillion won, are also drawing attention. The fund is intended to support future investment, including nurturing advanced industries through the Three Mega-Projects and developing talent. However, opposition lawmakers say it could become a slush fund with no parliamentary oversight, regardless of political ideology.
