LG Uplus teams up with the world’s largest white-hat hacker platform to identify attack paths

[Financial News] LG Uplus has partnered with HackerOne, the world’s largest bug bounty platform, to prevent security vulnerabilities in its services. The company plans to identify weaknesses, pathways, and methods that could allow hackers to gain unauthorized access or carry out attacks in a digital environment through white-hat hacker testing.
According to industry sources on the 24th, LG Uplus will begin operating a global Bug Bounty Program from that day. A bug bounty is a system that rewards white-hat hackers who discover security vulnerabilities in a company or organization’s services and IT infrastructure.
The move is intended to proactively uncover potential vulnerabilities that are difficult to detect through domestic security verification systems alone, using the global white-hat hacker community. The program will cover all of LG Uplus’s services, including mobile, internet, and enterprise services.
To proactively manage security risks arising from the expansion of overseas services and infrastructure, LG Uplus became the first Korean telecom carrier to form a partnership with global bug bounty platform company HackerOne and launch a global Bug Bounty Program.
HackerOne is the world’s largest bug bounty platform, with more than 2.4 million white-hat hackers participating worldwide. It has maintained long-term partnerships with the United States Department of Defense (DoD) and many global big tech companies.
Previously, LG Uplus has been accelerating its security efforts by becoming the only Korean telecom carrier to participate in the Ministry of Science and ICT and Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA)-run CVD/VDP pilot project, as well as the domestic public-interest AI security initiative Patch the Planet.
Through this partnership, LG Uplus aims to establish a vulnerability management system that meets global standards. In Korea, it will continue its joint bug bounty operation with KISA, while separately running a global program with HackerOne. By expanding the domestic white-hat hacker-centered stage to the global community, the company plans to identify previously undetected vulnerabilities and blind spots in management.
