[Financial News] Actor Hwang Jung-min has objected to a court-ordered mediation decision in a damages lawsuit seeking 200 million won filed by a woman, Ms. A, who has raised allegations related to his private life.
According to Newsis News Agency on the 18th, Hwang's side submitted a written objection to the court-ordered mediation decision to the Seoul Court Mediation Center that day.
Earlier, the court issued the compulsory mediation ruling on its own after neither party nor their legal representatives appeared at the mediation hearing held on the 14th. If either side objects within two weeks of service, the compulsory mediation loses effect and the case moves to a full trial.
The lawsuit began in February, when Ms. A filed a claim for 200 million won in damages against Hwang Jung-min.
She argued that she suffered mental and social harm during the legal dispute and that she had not received fair compensation for her creative work.
The trial court referred the case to mediation in June, but the process ultimately collapsed.
Separate from the civil case, Ms. A is currently on criminal trial for violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes. Prosecutors sought a fine of 10 million won at the final hearing on the 11th after Ms. A was indicted following Hwang Jung-min's complaint. Ms. A's side denies the stalking allegations in full.
