‘Odyssey’ Tops 5 Million on Day 13 of Release... Can It Break ‘Spider-Man 4’s’ Fastest 7 Million Record?

[Financial News] Christopher Nolan’s new film ‘Odyssey’ surpassed 5 million cumulative admissions at 10:22 a.m. today, the 17th, on its 13th day of release. The milestone came just one day after it crossed 4 million the previous day, following its release on the 5th.
According to distributor Universal Pictures on the 17th, the film’s box-office pace is comparable to Nolan’s biggest hit in Korea, ‘Interstellar,’ which drew 10 million viewers and reached 5 million on its 12th day.
It is also moving faster than this year’s other notable domestic releases, ‘The King’s Warden’ and ‘Colony,’ which each reached 5 million on their 18th and 24th days, respectively.
It is even ahead of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash,’ which was released last year and drew 5 million viewers on its 17th day, drawing attention to its eventual total audience.
In particular, the film has an Egg Index of 98% at multiplex chain CJ CGV, a measure of audience satisfaction. Among the categories of immersion, tension, emotion, enjoyment and stress relief, immersion received the highest score.
One CGV user praised the film, saying, "Even though the running time is long, it was not as boring as I expected, and I stayed immersed until the end." The viewer added, "The visuals were great, the music and atmosphere matched well, and the tension really picked up toward the end, which made it even more enjoyable. It was still good on a second viewing." Another audience member, who watched it in 2D, said, "I watched it for three hours without feeling bored, completely absorbed the whole time."
At his first press conference in Korea, held on the 3rd at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul in Jongno District, Nolan said, "I hope audiences will 'experience' the journey in the film at the theater."
Meanwhile, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ starring Tom Holland, has surpassed 7 million admissions in the shortest time this year.
Sony Pictures said on the 16th that the film’s cumulative admissions had exceeded 7 million as of that day. It reached the mark on its 19th day since opening on the 29th of last month.
