Jung Chung-rae: "Dismiss the indictment against President Lee; Kim Min-seok should face ethics inspection"

[Financial News] Jung Chung-rae, a candidate for leader of the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), said on the 14th that he agreed with the need to dismiss the indictment against President Lee. He also promised an ethics inspection of fellow pro-Lee candidate Kim Min-seok over allegations that Shincheonji interfered in the party convention.
On BBS Radio that day, Jung was asked to comment on Kim's remark that "if fabricated prosecution is clear, dismissing the indictment is the principle," as well as pro-Lee candidate Song Young-gil's statement that "we should push for a special counsel on fabricated prosecution, but remove the authority to dismiss indictments." Jung responded, "If it was a fabricated prosecution, it should naturally be dismissed. Kim's point is correct in principle."
Allegations of fabricated prosecution by the prosecution are mainly raised by pro-Lee figures, and it is widely known that the goal is to overturn the five trials involving President Lee. Jung appeared to echo that position. It seems aimed at appealing to supporters of President Lee. Jung also drew a line when asked about being labeled anti-Lee, saying it was "an attack that rides on the media's frame."
However, Jung stopped short of taking a specific position, given the explosive nature of the debate over dismissing President Lee's trials. He said, "There are differing views on what would confirm whether it was a fabricated prosecution," adding, "Some say it should be dismissed if confirmed at the prosecution stage, while others say the indictment can only be dismissed after a final Supreme Court ruling."
Jung also argued that Kim should face an ethics inspection, citing the allegation that Shincheonji interfered in a way that targeted him. Jung stressed, "For inclusiveness and unity, and even for Kim's sake, an ethics inspection is necessary."
"If you raised allegations that the Democratic Party is linked to Shincheonji, then Kim should go to the Ethics Inspection Unit and present evidence," he said. "If there is no evidence, he should face action."
