[Financial News] A passenger on a Cheongju-to-Jeju flight that was about to take off requested to cancel boarding after hearing that his father was critically ill, delaying the flight by about an hour.
According to News 1 and others on the 13th, a man in his 40s, identified as A, who had boarded Jin Air flight LJ401 at Cheongju Airport at 11:47 a.m. that day, asked to cancel his boarding, saying, "My father is critically ill from a chronic illness."
The flight had been scheduled to depart at 11:25 a.m., but takeoff had already been delayed. At the time A said he wanted to get off, the aircraft was just about to leave the boarding bridge and head to the runway.
After A got off the plane, the authorities identified him in accordance with relevant regulations and searched the aircraft cabin. This was part of a security procedure to check whether a passenger who disembarks before takeoff may have left explosives or other dangerous items on board. During the process, Police and the National Intelligence Service (NIS) reportedly verified A's identity and searched the area around his seat, which delayed the departure.
There were 191 passengers on board, excluding A, and the plane took off at around 12:25 p.m. after the procedures were completed.
The flight had been scheduled to depart at 11:25 a.m. and arrive at 12:40 p.m. the same day, but it landed at Jeju International Airport at around 1:10 p.m.
A Cheongju Airport official said, "The search found no explosives or any other unusual items."
