[Financial News] The Blue House said on the 13th that it would respond to the record-low approval rating for President Lee Jae-myung's state administration with the results of the real estate measures announced that day.
A Blue House official told reporters at the Chunchugwan Press Center that day that the administration was carefully reviewing whether there had been any shortcomings in state affairs after the approval rating hit its lowest level. "The real estate measures were announced today and are being discussed here, so we will answer with results on those issues," the official said.
The official also said the government was taking the negative public response to real estate policy seriously. "We are well aware of the public's anxiety and concerns about housing stability and the real estate market," the official noted.
At the 43rd senior aides meeting, Lee also described the real estate issue as a key pending matter and called for supply, tax and financial policies to be pursued together. He again stressed that a 'supply cliff' had emerged since 2022 due to declines in permits and construction starts, and urged a broad expansion of supply through faster permitting procedures and securing land for development.
The Blue House said it would continue to refine the measures announced that day by reflecting market conditions and public opinion. After the policy announcement, Lee said that accepting reasonable proposals or revisions is part of a normal policy-making process, and urged officials not to hesitate when revising existing policies.
The official said, "Ultimately, the fundamental basis on which the public will judge us is whether people's lives improve and whether we deliver results in livelihoods and the economy." The official added, "We will focus on livelihoods and the economy."
In the National Barometer Survey (NBS) released that day, Lee's approval rating for state administration fell 4 percentage points from the previous poll to 49%. Negative views rose 6 points to 43%. On the government's real estate policy, 56% of respondents said it was doing a poor job, compared with 34% who said it was doing well.
The survey was conducted through telephone interviews using 100% mobile virtual numbers, and the response rate was 20.4%. For more details, see the website of the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission.
