Former executive in his 60s arrested for repeatedly raping woman in her 20s with intellectual disability

According to the Women and Juvenile Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency on the 12th, a man in his 60s identified as A was arrested on charges of quasi-rape of a person with a disability under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. Judge Jeon Kyung-ho of the Incheon District Court, who is in charge of warrants, issued the arrest warrant after questioning A before detention, citing concerns over evidence destruction and flight.

A is accused of repeatedly raping B, a woman in her 20s with an intellectual disability, from last summer through June this year. The two worked together at a laundry company registered as a certified workplace for people with disabilities, and A is known to have previously served as an executive there. Both have since left the company.

The police investigation began in March after a related report was filed. After continuing the probe, police determined that further questioning was needed while A remained in custody and sought a pretrial arrest warrant.

B is said to have given birth after reporting the assault and is currently raising the child. On the day A's detention was decided, B's father held a news conference with a disability rights group and called for severe punishment.

B's father said the perpetrator never apologized after the crime and never mentioned child-rearing issues, arguing that he should be severely punished to prevent further victims.

Before the warrant hearing, A responded "I'm sorry" when reporters asked whether he had anything to say to the victim and her family, or whether he was claiming the relationship had been consensual.
