Passenger car falls 12 meters from rooftop of Suwon mart; driver in his 20s dies

According to police and fire authorities on the 12th, at around 6:27 p.m. that day, a Kia Seltos driven by a man in his 20s, identified as A, broke through the outer wall of a rooftop parking lot at a food ingredients mart in Homaesil-dong, Gwonseon District, Suwon, and fell about 12 meters below. Firefighters who responded to the report cut part of the crashed vehicle open and rescued A.

A was in cardiac arrest when he was rescued. He was rushed to a hospital, but died about 30 minutes later.

Police found that A's mother, who had been in the car with him just before the crash, got out first at the rooftop parking lot. Investigators believe that as A moved the vehicle forward, the Kia Seltos broke through a railing made of sandwich panels and fell from the building.

Police have confirmed that A was driving without a license and are investigating the exact circumstances that led the vehicle to break through the railing and fall.
