Police Question Jun Hyun-moo and Onew Over Alleged Treatment by 'Injection Auntie'

[Financial News] Broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo, SHINee member Key, whose real name is Kim Ki-beom, Onew, whose real name is Lee Jin-ki, and YouTuber Small-Mouthed Haetnim, whose real name is Kim Mi-kyung, have been questioned by police over allegations that they received illegal medical treatment from a non-medical worker known as the so-called 'Injection Auntie.' According to police and others on the 12th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station summoned and questioned them one by one between May and July this year on charges including violations of the Medical Service Act. Park Na-rae was questioned in May, Jun Hyun-moo and Onew in June, and Key and Small-Mouthed Haetnim last month.
Police are investigating the case on the grounds that a woman surnamed Lee, who does not hold a medical license in South Korea, carried out illegal medical procedures, including intravenous injections and prescribing medication, at places such as officetels and vehicles rather than medical facilities.
During the investigation, police reportedly checked whether the individuals knew that Lee was not a licensed medical professional when they received the treatment. Cases involving Key and Small-Mouthed Haetnim have now been merged with the Park Na-rae case, and the investigation is being handled by the Gangnam Police Station.
Onew's side said on the day, "We underwent one related questioning session in May and stated the facts as they were." It added, "At the time, we believed the person in question was a doctor or a medical professional affiliated with a hospital, and there were no signs that would have led us to question the validity of the medical license or the procedure."
Jun Hyun-moo's side also previously faced allegations of illegal medical treatment after a past image showed him receiving an IV drip in a vehicle. At the time, his side said it was a lawful medical procedure and released related medical records.
Police are continuing to investigate whether the people involved were aware of the illegal medical activity and the exact circumstances, based on materials secured through search-and-seizure operations at Lee's residence and vehicle.
