Mid-sized and smaller semiconductor-related companies have been rolling out hiring plans one after another in the second half of this year. The move appears to reflect efforts to secure talent as the semiconductor market has entered a boom cycle and business results have also been improving.
According to career platform Saramin Co., Ltd. on the 12th, fabless chipmaker FADU is recruiting for its "Junior Talent" program through the 23rd.
The company is accepting applications not only from new bachelor's degree graduates but also from candidates with up to eight years of experience. FADU focuses on semiconductors used in AI data centers, including solid-state drive (SSD) controllers. Its headquarters is in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
This time, FADU plans to hire in the double digits across three roles: firmware development, firmware verification and test engineering. After document screening, the company will hold a coding test later this month and interviews next month, then finalize new hires for November.
A FADU official said, "We are implementing performance-based evaluation and compensation for employees, including early promotions and generous incentive payments." The official added, "We also operate a Profit Share (PS) program that distributes part of operating profit to employees, and we are working to secure and retain talent."
Semiconductor equipment maker Techwing is recruiting both new and experienced employees in a wide range of areas, including overseas sales, mechanical design, software development, hardware development, materials, customer satisfaction, manufacturing management, research management, optical technology, information technology (IT) and AI. Techwing continues to hold the No. 1 global market share in handlers, equipment that sorts and transfers semiconductors after inspection.
KoMiCo, which focuses on the semiconductor parts business, is also hiring new and experienced employees in multiple areas, including accounting, infrastructure, production engineering, coding engineering, domestic sales, overseas sales and production. KoMiCo, which has strengths in precision cleaning and coating for semiconductor parts, is headquartered in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province. The hiring process includes document screening, interviews and medical examinations.
The reason semiconductor-related companies are launching hiring drives one after another is that the semiconductor market has entered a boom phase this year and earnings have also been strong. In fact, FADU posted revenue of 73.2 billion won in the second quarter, up 209% from a year earlier. It also recorded operating profit of 16.3 billion won in the same period, swinging to the black from an operating loss of 12.6 billion won a year earlier.
An industry source said, "Global semiconductor demand is surging, and major upstream companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are also racing to secure talent alongside strong earnings." The source added, "The same trend is being seen among materials, parts and equipment companies in the downstream semiconductor industry, where hiring is becoming increasingly active."
