[Financial News] Shim Hyung-rae's fantasy blockbuster film 'Dragon Wars: D-War' is sparking a global comeback frenzy on Netflix, 19 years after its release.
According to major foreign media outlets, including ABC News in the United States, FlixPatrol reported on the 11th that 'Dragon Wars: D-War' ranked No. 2 in Netflix's film category in major European countries, including Germany, France and Italy, for two straight days on the 8th and 9th local time.
Fueled by that surge in Europe, the film also climbed to No. 8 and then No. 7 on Netflix's global movie chart over the same period.
Released in 2007, 'Dragon Wars: D-War' is a Hollywood-style sci-fi fantasy film based on the Korean legend of the imugi, and it drew more than 8.4 million viewers in South Korea alone at the time.
Despite criticism over its polish and narrative, the film drew attention for its flashy CG technology. Now, in the summer of 2026, it is winning over viewers across Europe and around the world through global streaming platforms, once again underscoring the power of 'K-spectacle.'
