[Financial News] The University of Seoul has joined hands with the Dongdaemun-gu Office, the Seoul Business Agency and the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office to tackle youth unemployment in the area for the fourth consecutive year. The University of Seoul's University Job Plus Center said on the 11th that the four institutions held a working committee meeting of the Youth Employment Council and discussed policy coordination and cooperation measures to boost youth employment.
Launched in October 2023 under the leadership of the University of Seoul, the Youth Employment Council is a regional consultative body in which the government, local governments, business groups and universities work together to address youth employment issues. The participating institutions have met regularly every year to promote youth employment policies and support programs.
At the meeting, the University of Seoul's University Job Plus Center introduced its key projects for this year to help expand youth employment in the region. In particular, the UOS OUTREACH program, which provides career and job education for students at specialized high schools, has expanded by one participating school each year. This year, 561 local young people from five institutions took part. The center is also newly operating Seoul ANCHOR Youth Job School University+, which supports job-seeking and startup capabilities through intensive AI training.
Presentations on youth support programs by each institution also followed. The Dongdaemun-gu Office introduced its support program for youth job qualification activities and requested publicity cooperation for the second half of the year. The Seoul Business Agency asked for promotional support for the Youth Job School curriculum and its newly launched AI entrepreneur training program. The Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office requested cooperation in promoting Job Prep Concert, Job Talk Talk, which offers young people practical guidance for job preparation, and Youth ON Lounge, a space that provides customized counseling on employment, finance and housing welfare.
In the subsequent discussion on ways to link efforts to boost local youth employment, the institutions agreed to actively communicate and cooperate on measures such as promoting youth employment policies and projects through each institution's own channels and jointly using infrastructure when operating local youth career and job programs.
Moon Mi-ra, director of the Talent Development Office at the University of Seoul and vice chair of the Youth Employment Council, said, "I think the fact that the four institutions have continued to meet regularly every year since launching the consultative body in 2023 to promote youth employment in the region is itself a meaningful achievement." She added, "As this year marks the fourth year, I hope we will continue to find more practical and advanced ways to cooperate for the revitalization of youth employment."
