U.S. Ambassador Michelle Steel Pays Respects at Seoul National Cemetery, Says "The Sacrifice of War Veterans Is at the Heart of the ROK-U.S. Alliance"

[Financial News] U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Michelle Park Steel visited Seoul National Cemetery with General Xavier T. Brunson, commander of U.S. Forces Korea, to honor Korean War veterans.
On the 10th, Steel wrote on her X account, "It was an honor to lay a wreath with General Brunson at Seoul National Cemetery and pay tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of Korean War veterans."
She added, "That noble sacrifice remains at the center of our enduring alliance."
Steel's husband, attorney Shawn Steel, who has accompanied her to major events since she took office, also joined the visit.
Earlier, on the 5th, Steel also met with General Brunson and stressed cooperation between South Korea and the United States for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
In a post on X on the 6th, she said, "Yesterday, I had a meaningful conversation with General Brunson about our shared mission to safeguard peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula." She added, "We will continue working closely to strengthen the combined defense posture and the strong ROK-U.S. Alliance."
Since arriving in South Korea on the 30th of last month, Steel submitted copies of her credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 4th and paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Cho Hyun. Before presenting her credentials to President Lee Jae-myung, she has continued to signal her commitment to strengthening the ROK-U.S. Alliance through events such as her visit to the cemetery.
She has also been highlighting her personal ties to South Korea since taking office. Steel has shared visits to Gwanghwamun and Namdaemun Market, offering glimpses of her daily life in the country.
