Will the Strait of Hormuz Reopen? Iran Says Deal on Ship Passage with Oman Is in Final Stages

[Financial News] Iran and Oman are reportedly close to reaching an agreement on ship passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Through the talks, Iran is also highlighting its view that security in the Persian Gulf region should be led by countries in the region.
According to Al Jazeera on the 7th local time, a spokesperson for the Iranian parliament's Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy said, "We have established a broad framework of understanding with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz issue," adding, "We are now waiting for final approval from higher authorities."
As the Strait of Hormuz is a major global oil shipping route, the stability of passage through the waterway is expected to have a direct impact on international oil prices and the global energy supply.
Iran is emphasizing the security aspect of the agreement. It argues that security in the Persian Gulf region should be based on cooperation among neighboring countries, including Iran, rather than intervention by outside powers such as the United States. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that he does not want confrontation with countries near the Persian Gulf region and criticized Israel for trying to rally Gulf states against Iran.
The key question going forward is whether the political agreement can lead to the safe passage of actual ships. The specific implementation method and whether Gulf states respond positively are expected to be important variables.
