Pastor Son Hyun-bo, who led anti-impeachment rallies for Yoon, meets Trump at the White House

[Financial News] Pastor Son Hyun-bo of Busan Segyero Church, who led rallies opposing the impeachment of former President Yoon, met with President Donald Trump along with his family.
On the 8th, Busan Segyero Church said Pastor Son visited The White House on the 7th local time, had a brief conversation with Trump, and also visited the White House Faith Office. The church did not disclose what they discussed.
Pastor Son led the anti-impeachment rallies for Yoon while heading the Protestant group Save Korea. He was indicted last year on charges of illegal campaigning during the presidential election and other events, and was sentenced earlier this year to six months in prison, suspended for one year.
Pastor Son has also repeatedly met with U.S. government officials to raise concerns about religious and human rights issues in South Korea, including laws on dissolving religious corporations and a comprehensive anti-discrimination bill.
In February, he met with Michael Needham, an adviser at the U.S. Department of State. In June, Riley M. Barnes, deputy assistant secretary for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL), and acting deputy assistant secretary Julie Turner visited Busan Segyero Church and met with Pastor Son.
Although these contacts are less significant than major issues such as South Korea's investment in the United States or Coupang, the fact that U.S. officials continue to show interest has raised the possibility that the matter could develop into a sensitive issue in the Korea-U.S. relationship.
