' According to the International Peace Foundation on the 8th, the Seogwipo Branch of KB Kookmin Bank delivered a donation on the 7th at the Jeju International Peace Center in Seogwipo City to support the Foundation's peace research and education projects. Officials from both organizations attended the handover ceremony, including Park Chan-soon, Head of KB Kookmin Bank's Jeju Regional Headquarters; Ko Min-soo, Branch Manager of KB Kookmin Bank's Seogwipo Branch; and Ko Gyeong-min, Secretary General of the International Peace Foundation.
The donation will be utilized for peace research and policy development aimed at spreading the value of 'Jeju, the Island of World Peace,' as well as for domestic and international exchange and cooperation and peace education projects. The International Peace Foundation was established jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province to serve as a hub for peace implementation projects after the government designated Jeju as the 'Island of World Peace' in 2005.
It is a non-profit private public interest corporation established in 2006. Its main activities include research and policy development for the settlement of peace on the Korean Peninsula and cooperation in East Asia, as well as international exchange and education.
The International Peace Foundation operates the Jeju Peace Institute and the Jeju International Training Center as affiliated institutions. The Jeju Peace Institute conducts research on the settlement of peace on the Korean Peninsula, security cooperation in East Asia, and multilateral cooperation, and develops policy alternatives.
It also organizes the 'Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity. ' Launched in 2001, the Jeju Forum is a public diplomacy platform that has discussed peace, prosperity, and cooperation in Northeast Asia and the international community.
The UNITAR Jeju International Training Center is a policy education and training institution operating based on cooperation between Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, the International Peace Foundation, and UNITAR. It runs education and training programs to strengthen the capabilities of government and civil society officials in the Asia-Pacific region.
Programs targeting local leaders and youth, centered on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are also being conducted. The Jeju International Peace Center is a symbolic facility for peace established by Jeju Province in conjunction with its designation as the "Island of World Peace.
" Entrusted to the International Peace Foundation for operation, it is responsible for peace-related promotion, exhibitions, education, and experiential learning. The structure is such that peace research, policy development, international education and training, and exhibitions and education are interconnected, centered around the International Peace Foundation.
