[Financial News] A heartwarming story has belatedly come to light about comedian Kim Gyu-won, who is active as a cast member of Saturday Night Live Korea (SNL Korea), and the devoted care he showed to a disabled student during his time as a social service worker.
On the 7th, illustrator Kiki shared a webtoon on Instagram based on a story submitted by a reader.
The child of the person identified as A was born with muscular dystrophy and began using a wheelchair in fourth grade. The student continued school life with help from a social service worker assigned to the school. That social service worker was Kim Gyu-won.
Kim Gyu-won's sincerity became clear when the child had an accident in the school restroom. A received the call but was too far away to get to the child right away. Kim Gyu-won told them not to worry, hung up, then personally hand-washed the child's underwear, dried it in the sun, folded it neatly, and handed it to A in time for dismissal. He reportedly said, "I'm sorry for making you worry."
Their bond continued even after his service ended. Kim Gyu-won had promised to attend the child's elementary school graduation, but when the family tested positive for COVID-19, he could not visit. Instead, he left flowers and a gift at their front door. Later, he kept his promise by showing up in person for the middle school graduation despite a busy broadcast schedule.
A expressed gratitude, saying, "For our family, Teacher Kim Gyu-won is the number one celebrity."
Kim Gyu-won made his debut in 2023 on tvN's Comedy Big League and is now active on SNL Korea. It was also revealed that before his debut, he spent more than seven years getting by during his years as an unknown comedian by hosting first-birthday parties. He won the Rookie Male Variety Entertainer Award at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards held on the 31st of last month.
