Iran Mocks Trump’s ‘Attack Canceled’ Claim: ‘Stop Changing Your Story and End the Show Diplomacy’

[Financial News] Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Parliament of Iran and the head of Iran’s negotiating team in the ceasefire talks with the United States, criticized President Donald Trump’s repeated shifts in position as “show diplomacy” and urged him to keep his promises.
In a post on X on the 6th (local time), Ghalibaf wrote, “A massive attack is imminent. Wait, canceled. They want talks,” and called it “theater diplomacy that repeats endlessly.”
He added, “Using threats, broken promises and fake news as bargaining chips is a failed strategy,” and stressed, “Face reality and honor your commitments. We do not need any more show.”
The remarks came as the United States and Iran continued indirect talks through mediators after armed clashes over control of the Strait of Hormuz.
President Trump recently said progress had been made in the talks and that he had abruptly canceled a large-scale military strike plan that had been in preparation. It was a signal that he would prioritize negotiations.
Iran, however, has repeatedly denied the possibility of direct talks with the United States. Instead, it has maintained that it will focus only on negotiations related to the Strait of Hormuz, which are being mediated by Oman, highlighting the gap with Washington.
Although both sides agree that talks are necessary, they have failed to narrow their differences over the format of negotiations and military pressure, raising expectations that the ceasefire talks will remain strained for some time.
