Foreign and Unification ministries try to smooth over tensions?.. "Pushing Korean Peninsula peace policy centered on the NSC"

[Financial News] The rift between the Ministry of Unification and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, triggered by the foreign and security briefing chaired by President Lee Jae-myung on the 5th, is not narrowing easily.
A MOFA official said on the 6th that the government is closely coordinating with related ministries and advancing policy on security issues through the National Security Council (NSC), in an effort to ease the dispute. The idea is to have the ministries work as one team under the NSC to push forward policy on the Korean Peninsula.
The dispute began on the 5th when Unification Minister Jung Dong-young suggested to President Lee that North Korea be referred to as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and proposed pursuing four-party peace talks involving the United States, China, South Korea and North Korea.
The conflict escalated after Foreign Minister Cho Hyun dismissed Jung's remarks as idealistic in comments to reporters after the briefing.
Regarding the four-party talks the Unification Ministry wants to pursue, Cho asked reporters to "discount" them, saying they were "one of those methods that have not yet been coordinated, even if they are a hope based on idealism."
A day after Cho's remarks, the Unification Ministry did not hide its displeasure. A ministry official countered that it was "not idealism, but the most realistic and practical option at this point."
