Heatwave in Seoul and the Capital Region Spreads to Inland Gangwon Province... Severe Heat Alerts Issued for Chuncheon and Hoengseong [FN Weather]

[Financial News] The severe heat alert is spreading beyond Seoul and the Capital Region into inland Gangwon Province. Chuncheon is forecast to reach a high of 37 degrees Celsius on the 6th, and a severe heat alert will take effect at 11 a.m. for Chuncheon, Hoengseong County and the Hongcheon plains. In Honam, severe alerts will also be issued for Jeonju in North Jeolla Province and eastern Gwangju.
The KMA announced the changes to the heat advisories at 10 a.m. that day. A severe heat alert is the highest-level advisory, issued when the maximum temperature is expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius or higher, or the maximum perceived temperature is expected to rise to 38 degrees Celsius or higher.
The severe alert is also in effect across Seoul, Ganghwa, the southern and northern parts of Incheon, and 23 advisory areas in Gyeonggi Province. The affected areas in Gyeonggi Province include parts of Gwangmyeong-si, Ansan-si, Gimpo, Yeoncheon County, Pocheon, Gapyeong County, Goyang, Namyangju, Osan, Pyeongtaek, Uiwang, Hanam-si, Anseong, Hwaseong, Paju, Yongin, Yeoju and Yangpyeong County.
The advisories for the plains of Pyeongchang County and Jeongseon County in Gangwon Province, as well as northern and southeastern Andong, the plains of Yeongyang and Bonghwa in North Gyeongsang Province, will be upgraded to a heat warning at 11 a.m. A heat advisory is also in effect for Yeongdeok County and the mountainous areas of Yeongyang.
