[Financial News] KT Corporation said on the 6th that it has expanded its AI-based real-time spam-blocking service, which had been in pilot operation, to all subscribers. The AI system detects and blocks spam messages in real time, and the total number of blocked spam messages rose 3.5% after the service was expanded.
KT developed the AI spam-blocking function in January and had been running a pilot program for 800,000 subscribers who set the smart-blocking option to "High" in the KT spam-blocking app. Since the 29th of last month, the company has expanded the AI spam-blocking function to all subscribers, including KT MVNO users, through its existing spam-blocking service. The service is free for all KT subscribers.
The AI spam-blocking service operates 24 hours a day, including weekends and overnight hours. KT is closely monitoring service stability and subscribers' perceived quality after the expanded rollout.
From the 29th of last month, when the AI spam-blocking service was expanded, through the 3rd, the false-blocking rate for the spam-blocking service remained at 0.003%, while related customer inquiries, or VOC, stayed at zero. By blocking spam that had previously slipped through, the AI system increased the total number of blocked spam messages by 3.5%.
KT also plans to launch a new "real-time spam-blocking notification service" later this month. Subscribers who use the notification service will receive real-time alerts on blocked messages and be able to check the status.
Choi Se-jun, SVP and head of the Customer Strategy Headquarters at KT's Customer Division, said, "We will continue to update our services to strengthen customer trust, advance our AI-based detection technology, and build a prevention-oriented customer protection system."
