Meta Platforms unveils AI coding agent 'Muse Code'... "Aims to challenge Anthropic and OpenAI"

Meta Platforms Inc. has challenged the AI coding agent market dominated by Anthropic and OpenAI.
On the 5th (local time), Meta unveiled its first coding agent, "Muse Code."
Muse Code was developed under the leadership of Meta's AI chief, Alexander Wang, who heads Meta Superintelligence Labs. Wang was appointed by CEO Mark Zuckerberg in June last year to overhaul Meta's AI strategy.
In an interview with CNBC on the day, Wang said, "You can install Muse Code with a single command," adding, "Once the installation is complete, it can be used for a wide range of tasks, including variable planning, coding, and result verification, allowing it to carry out complete software engineering work." He said the system can handle or assist with the entire software development process, from start to finish, as long as developers provide the idea.
For Zuckerberg, who has been seeking new revenue streams to offset massive AI investments, this marks another potential source of income. He recently decided to offer part of Meta's large-scale AI data center computing power, which had been used only for its own social media users, to third parties. That puts the company firmly on the path to becoming a hyperscaler. It has now also entered the AI coding agent market.
Like Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's Codex agent, Meta's Muse Code also allows users to easily build applications within a single interface.
Muse Code, which was released in preview form, works in collaboration with Meta's latest AI model, "Muse Spark 1.2." Wang said the latest Muse Spark was developed and trained together with Muse Code, improving overall coding performance.
Developers can access Muse Code through a pay-as-you-go option.
