"Most of the Strait of Hormuz route will pass through Iran; the existing temporary route through Oman has been closed"

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's deputy foreign minister, said that a significant portion of the Strait of Hormuz shipping route will now fall within Iran's territorial waters. He added that Iran and Oman had reached agreement on nearly all issues, including the coordinates of the strait.
According to Al Jazeera on the 5th local time, Gharibabadi said Iran is currently creating a "new model" for managing traffic through the Strait of Hormuz as part of an understanding with Oman.
He said the new plan would place most of the designated route in Iranian waters, while some sections would also extend into Omani waters.
Gharibabadi also said the existing temporary routes, including the northern route near Larak Island in Iran and the southern route through Omani waters, will be closed.
He added that the new Strait of Hormuz route will be used for two to four months, or possibly longer on a provisional basis.
