Iran Says It Has Agreed on Coordinates for Oman and Strait of Hormuz Route

Iran and Oman have agreed on coordinates for a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said on the 5th local time.
According to Al Jazeera, Baghaei added that the two countries are in the final stage of preparing a joint declaration on the agreement. He said a joint statement would be issued unless a "certain third party" interferes. The remark appeared to refer to the United States.
Baghaei also stressed that although Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on the route, that does not automatically guarantee safe passage. He said U.S. military actions in the region are still undermining the route’s safety.
In a post shared on Iran’s Foreign Ministry Telegram page, Baghaei noted that many factors threatening the safety of the Strait of Hormuz still remain. He cited the United States’ declaration of a maritime blockade on Iran and other "belligerent and threatening actions against Iran and Iran’s interests" as examples.
Meanwhile, Baghaei said Iranian officials are continuing to exchange views with mediators Pakistan and Qatar. He added, however, that neither Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, nor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the National Assembly, has any plan to visit either country.
The remarks suggest that there will be no major breakthrough in the ceasefire issue between the United States and Iran in the immediate future.
