In New York stock market trading that day, SK hynix ADR climbed more than 7% intraday and regained the $150 level. Since its U.S. listing on the 10th of last month, the stock had fallen below its offering price of $149 amid a correction in semiconductor shares, but it has now rebounded on the back of positive Wall Street assessments.
At least six brokerages, including Rosenblatt Securities, Bank of America (BofA) and William Blair, initiated coverage of SK hynix on the day with ratings equivalent to 'buy.'
The highest target price came from Rosenblatt Securities at $320. Cantor Fitzgerald set a target of $300, while William Blair and BofA also issued strong-buy views, citing the company's unmatched competitiveness in the AI memory market.
The brokerages generally pointed to two key investment factors: SK hynix's leadership in the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) market and the improved access global institutional investors now have through its U.S. listing.
William Blair said, "The U.S. listing could create an opportunity for SK hynix to be valued at a level similar to U.S. rival Micron." It added, "As its strong ties to the AI and data center markets and long-term earnings visibility are factored in, a more structural revaluation of the company is possible."
This means the move is not just a simple share-price rally. It suggests that U.S. investors are reappraising SK hynix as a core player in the AI memory market, which could lift its valuation to a new level.
BofA also said SK hynix remains undervalued. Given robust HBM demand from major U.S. tech companies and its overwhelming competitiveness in the high-performance memory market, the bank said the company is likely to become one of the biggest beneficiaries of a prolonged memory upcycle, or "Supercycle," as AI infrastructure investment expands.
Wall Street expects rising investment in AI data centers to be a key driver of the memory market for years to come.
As Generative AI, AI agents and, in the future, Physical AI continue to spread, demand for HBM and DRAM is likely to remain above supply. As a result, analysts are increasingly saying memory makers will be among the biggest beneficiaries of expanding AI investment.
