Trump Says He Can't Trust Iran's Lies, Vows to Strike Hard

U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 31st of last month, local time, that Iran was only telling lies and was the worst possible negotiating partner. He also said the United States would strike Iran so hard that it would say it could no longer endure it.
At the Cabinet meeting he chaired that day at Camp David in Maryland, Trump reaffirmed his willingness to carry out airstrikes against Iran.
He did not completely rule out the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran, but made clear that he would continue to pressure the country militarily.
Trump said, "We are going to hit them very hard," adding that Iran, worn down by the airstrikes, would "at some point say, 'We can't take it anymore.'"
He also expressed deep distrust of Iran.
Trump said, "Iran has been very dishonest and a very disgraceful country to deal with." But he added, "That does not matter. Iran is in a very bad situation," expressing confidence that it would eventually have no choice but to yield to the United States.
Trump said, "We just want to win," and declared, "Iran will not have nuclear weapons, and it cannot have them."
The United States carried out airstrikes on Iran for about two weeks starting on the 11th of last month, then halted them on the 24th. However, fighting resumed after Iran attacked a U.S. military base on the 29th.
When asked whether a deal with Iran was possible, Trump answered, "Yes." Still, he added, "I am losing trust in them because they lie."
Trump also stressed that Iran had resumed attacks during negotiations, saying the United States intercepted them but that Iran had undermined its own credibility.
