Abolition of Supplementary Investigation Authority... "Jung Chung-rae's rationale has disappeared"

[Financial News] A revision to the Criminal Procedure Act of the Republic of Korea, which excludes prosecutors at the Public Prosecution Office from all investigations, including supplementary investigation authority, passed the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 31st. Candidates running in the DPK leadership race offered different messages about the significance of the bill's passage.
Soon after the bill was approved, candidate Jung Chung-rae posted on social networking service to honor the late former President Roh Moo-hyun. Jung said, "President, here is the revised Criminal Procedure Act of the Republic of Korea," and added, "I respectfully dedicate the reform bill that passed the National Assembly today before the portrait of the president whom our people love most."
By contrast, candidate Song Young-gil used the moment to directly target Jung. Through social networking service, Song said, "With the passage of the Criminal Procedure Act revision, the one-person, one-vote rule, and the abolition of supplementary investigation authority, there is no longer any need to use them as political slogans for the party convention," adding, "I will verify what rationale Jung Chung-rae has for running for party leader at the next televised debate."
Candidate Kim Min-seok stressed a "one team" approach between the party and the government. On social networking service, Kim said, "We have crossed another major mountain in prosecution reform. It was not easy," and described it as "another historic achievement created by the strong resolve and reformist decision of the Lee Jae Myung administration, which has turned its promise to the people into action."
