Chile's President Says, "In Mineral Cooperation, Many Hands Make Light Work... I Proposed a Joint Visit to Antarctica for Lee"

[Financial News, Santiago, Chile = Reporter Choi Jong-geun]On the 30th local time, Chilean President José Antonio Kast held a summit with President Lee Jae-myung and agreed to expand cooperation on supply chains for key minerals such as copper and lithium. He also proposed a joint visit to Antarctica.
At the Korea-Chile joint press statement held after the summit at the National Palace in Santiago, Kast said, "The copper and lithium that Chile exports are indispensable resources for making the latest electric vehicles and the semiconductor chips supplied to the world by Korea's advanced technology."
He then referred to the Korean proverb, "Many hands make light work," and said he sees cooperation on key minerals in exactly that way. He added that it is "a task shared by Chile and Korea to bring greater stability to the supply chains the world needs."
He also expressed his willingness to expand cooperation in Antarctica. Kast said, "A Korean base is operating right next to Chile's Antarctic base, and Punta Arenas is the gateway for Korea into the White Continent." He added, "I proposed a joint visit to Antarctica to President Lee Jae-myung."
He also raised the possibility that Chilean icebreakers could contribute to Antarctic scientific exploration, saying he hopes to take bilateral cooperation on Antarctic research to the next level.
Kast also said, "The new generation of Chileans has been captivated by K-pop, the vibrant Korean culture," and added, "Its leading act, BTS, will be welcomed at the National Stadium, Chile's largest venue, this October."
