Man in His 50s Faces Detention Over Gangbuk Officetel Murder

[Financial News] A man in his 50s accused of killing a woman in her 50s at an officetel in Gangbuk District, Seoul, is facing a detention hearing.
According to the legal community on the 30th, the Seoul Northern District Court's Criminal Division 10, Single-Member Panel, presided over by Judge Park Sa-rang, will hold a pre-arrest suspect hearing at 10:30 a.m. for the man, identified as A, who is suspected of murder and violating the drug control law.
A is accused of attacking B, a woman in her 50s, with a weapon at an officetel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District, on the 28th, causing her death.
After receiving a tip-off about the murder, police rushed to the scene at around 1:40 a.m. and arrested A on the spot. During the arrest, they found a weapon believed to have been used in the crime, along with drug-related items. A field test later came back positive for both methamphetamine and cannabis.
The Seoul Gangbuk Police Station filed for an arrest warrant for A on the 29th. A decision on whether to detain him is expected as early as later in the day.
