[Financial News] The National Council of Police Workplace Associations, an alternative organization to a police union, is pushing back against the expansion of rotational assignments and will hold a nationwide joint meeting to draw up countermeasures.
On the afternoon of the 29th, the National Council of Police Workplace Associations held the 'National Police Workplace Association Joint Meeting' at the National Police Agency's Daechungmaru in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, with 165 regional association heads in attendance. The meeting will discuss responses to orders to increase inspection personnel, forced rotational assignments, and practical police reform measures.
Speaking to reporters that day, Chairman Min Gwan-gi said, "Field officers are strongly objecting to attempts to force rotational assignments while treating all 130,000 police officers like criminals over an individual case, the Jang Yoon-gi case." He added, "The association heads who work in the field voluntarily arranged this meeting to discuss countermeasures and other issues."
In particular, the meeting is expected to focus on countermeasures to the expanded implementation of the rotational assignment system. Min said, "We have been continuing discussions with the leadership about gradually abolishing the rotational assignment system, so we strongly oppose any move to expand it." He added, "We will collect the opinions brought in from across the country today."
Based on the views gathered that day, the association plans to discuss joint responses and whether to form a struggle committee. If an executive team is formed, it will also decide on specific protest methods and future response measures. The group also suggested the possibility of collective action if the National Police Agency does not accept its demands.
Min said, "We have not yet discussed how to fight this," but added, "Overall, we are keeping every option open, including the possibility of shaving our heads."
