[Financial News] Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yun-cheol said on the 29th that "it is necessary to adjust the intensity by reducing the burden on one-home owner-occupiers and increasing it for multi-home owners who do not live in those homes."
Koo made the remarks during a work report to the National Assembly Planning and Finance Committee, saying that the Lee Jae Myung administration is not operating real estate taxes to rein in home prices.
Koo explained that the government does not intend to provide financial support or tax incentives to people who buy several homes, live in only one, and continue not living in the others. He said the policy is aimed at normalizing transactions, normalizing property ownership, and stabilizing the market.
Asked whether property holding taxes and transaction taxes would both be raised, Koo declined to give a direct answer, saying, "I cannot say that in a blanket way."
