Knife and Hammer Found at Scene... Suspect in Suyu-dong Murder Tests Positive for Philopon and Marijuana

[Financial News] A man in his 50s who was arrested on suspicion of killing a woman in her 50s at an officetel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, tested positive in a preliminary drug screening.
According to police on the 29th, the Seoul Gangbuk Police Station conducted a preliminary drug test on the man, identified only as A, who was urgently arrested on murder charges. The result came back positive for both Philopon and marijuana, police said.
During the initial investigation, A refused the drug test, citing a bodily function issue. However, after the later screening returned positive, he admitted to using the drugs.
He has, however, refused to say when or where he took them, and he is also declining to make any statement about the murder charge.
Police have requested a detailed analysis from the National Forensic Service.
Earlier, police launched a search based on a tip-off and urgently arrested A at around 1:40 a.m. on the 28th.
A is accused of fatally stabbing a woman in her 50s, identified as B, at an officetel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu.
At the scene, police found items believed to be the murder weapons, including a knife and a hammer. Suspected marijuana and Philopon were also found among A's belongings.
Police said their investigation found that the two were not related by family. They are now looking into the exact motive, including the possibility of an intimate-partner killing or another relationship-based crime.
A is also reported to have a prior record for a sex crime.
Police plan to request an arrest warrant for A as early as today.
