[Financial News] The impact of BTS's comeback is now in full swing. HYBE announced on the 28th that it had posted record quarterly results.
In the second quarter, the company posted revenue of 1.45 trillion won and operating profit of 170.9 billion won. Both figures are the highest ever for a quarterly period. It was the first time HYBE's quarterly revenue exceeded 1 trillion won, and its quarterly operating profit also topped 100 billion won for the first time. First-half revenue also surpassed 2 trillion won for the first time in the company's history.
Detailed results across major business segments also hit record highs. In particular, direct participation revenue stood out, driven by a series of artist comebacks and the start of world tours. The concert segment, which falls under direct participation revenue, recorded 647.7 billion won, while the music and album segment posted 326.8 billion won. Among indirect participation revenue, the MD and licensing segment also benefited from the concert business and reached a record 310.6 billion won.
The company also strengthened its fundamentals as well as its scale. While more than doubling revenue from a year earlier, it also succeeded in posting a double-digit operating margin of 11.8%.
BTS, which began its world tour in April, drove second-quarter performance. Global girl group KATSEYE and rookie act CORTIS are also showing unprecedented growth in the global music market.
As activities by HYBE artists such as Tomorrow X Together (TXT), ENHYPEN, &TEAM, BOYNEXTDOOR, TWS, LE SSERAFIM and Illit have picked up, Weverse is also growing alongside them. Monthly active users (MAU) hit a new all-time high again, following the first quarter, reaching 14.43 million.
In addition, as tour activity increases, sales of related merchandise are expected to rise, and results in the MD and licensing segments are also likely to improve thanks to events such as The City Project.
