KASA Signs Space Cooperation MOU with Brazil's Space Agency

[Financial News] The Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) announced on the 28th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Brazil's Space Agency (AEB) on cooperation for the peaceful use of outer space in Brasília, Brazil, on the 27th local time.
This was the first MOU KASA has signed with a Latin American country since its launch. It was pursued as a follow-up measure to the Korea–Brazil summit in February. The administration said the agreement is significant because it will help launch practical space cooperation, including the use of Brazil's launch site, and build a foundation for supporting Korean space companies' entry into the Latin American market.
Through the MOU, the two agencies agreed to establish a cooperative relationship in areas including launch licensing regulations, lunar exploration and related scientific, technological and commercial activities, development of the space industry and space economy, and satellite data sharing.
Brazil is drawing attention as a key partner in space transportation because it has favorable geographic conditions, including the Alcântara Launch Center near the equator. As a result, expectations are growing that simplifying launch licensing procedures will provide administrative and financial support to help Korean companies overcome difficulties with overseas launches.
Meanwhile, KASA plans to seek new cooperation opportunities in aircraft manufacturing by leveraging the industrial strengths of both countries during this visit to Brazil. To produce concrete results, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and Embraer are scheduled to sign an MOU on the afternoon of the 28th local time.
Oh Tae-seok, administrator of KASA, said, "This MOU with Brazil's Space Agency will serve as a practical foundation for our space companies to ease launch difficulties and enter the Brazilian market." He added, "At the same time, we will actively support efforts to produce visible cooperation results in aircraft manufacturing as well."
